Policies

The Department of Music collection of audio-visual and print materials is available primarily to Music faculty and students. The following policies apply:

Audio-visual materials are available to all UTEP students, staff, and faculty for listening in the music library. They circulate only to the Department of Music faculty.
Printed music is available to all UTEP students, staff, and faculty for in-library perusal. It circulates only to the Department of Music faculty and music majors.
Video materials can be used and/or circulated only to the Department of Music faculty.

Students cannot check out sound recordings, but can listen to them in the library.

Video and sound recordings can leave the library only with a faculty member.

There is a small reference book collection and music journal collection in the Music Library--these are listed in the catalog and can only be used in the library – they do not circulate.

Your teachers may place materials on reserve in the music library – these materials can only be used only in the library, but because they are on reserve, you can ask for them by teacher name and not have to go through the catalog.

Music Majors can check out sheet music – the loan period is for the semester, but we strongly encourage getting it back much sooner.

Any materials not back by the end of the semester are subject to holds placed on your student record, which will prevent your registration. You will be charged for lost items.
